The Bittersweet Epic of Gwen's
One Great Unrequited Love
and the Incidental Subplot That Was
Her Senior Prom

In tenth grade I sat behind a boy with green eyes. Let's just call him Freddy Huevas, okay?
I was in love with this boy. He was mature, and yet he also had a subtle, dry wit. He was so unlike the other boys at school. And he was tall, to boot.
Did I mention that he had green eyes? Green was my favorite color. I often wore green army surplus jackets. (I used to dress kind of weird back then. Kind of like a military-base flashdancer, maybe.) (Hey, it was 1988.)
