Linkelodeon!

From Ashley: The New Republic interprets Barrack Obama through his writing. I was surprised to find them compare Obama to Henry James, with whom I am lately semi-obsessed.

Also from Ashley: The NY Times profiles Rush Limbaugh and almost makes me pity him, but then, not. Which is what they're good at doing, I've noticed: Showing you the hate-able-ness, then showing a little that's empathy-worthy, then coming on full strength with more evidence of hate-ability. Love it.

From Marq: This artist makes plastic bags into inflatable animals that only appear when the subway rolls under the grates that they're tied to.

Christina Ricca Cat disapproves.

Benny Bennassi feat. The Bravery

Weird-ass Benny Benassi remix of "California Dreamin'".

I found the two above when trying to find my favorite Bravery song for you guys and for my friend Brie, and then finally I found my favorite Bravery song, but only in one of those homemade videos that people make (inexplicably to me) with anime characters. Why do people make those? Someone please explain.

Whoa. There is a web site dedicated to making anime music videos, and they hold contests and everything.

From Mike: Italian Spiderman.

This post I wrote in 2005 has become a repository for complaints by and about Kroger employees, as you will note in its comments.

It replaces, in my heart, this post I wrote in 2004 that became a touchstone for people searching for the Mervyn's online survey.

The most-read post of the past two months is the one about my cats having sex on my bed. I wanted to find the most-read posts ever, but my stats won't tell me that.

Here are the web searches that most often lead people to my site:
"topless bar"
"dress patterns"
"reggie aqui gay"
"boobsquad gwen"
"jehovas witness"
"kroger sucks"
"women of telemundo"
"is reggie aqui gay"
"gwen bitter asian men"
"hairstyles for fat women"
"emo acronym"
"club adventure"
"reggie aqui gay?"
"blt party"

I don't mind when people criticize my blog, but it bothers me a little when they misread it.

Dear SmugWatch Dude:
I do not do yoga. Please be less assumptive in your smugness watchdogging.
Thank you.

That artist who makes inflatable animals had one person post it on Youtube, and now he's an internet phenom! I love the internets.

I hate to break this to ya, but Reggie Aqui IS gay.

I watched the first "Air Bear" video, and then I just had to indulge my curiosity and see what related video "HOT girl on the subway" was all about. Stalker video?

I'll just say it might be worth a look.

Anon: Me, too. And don't worry about my reaction to your Reggie news. I've already called off our engagement.

Adia: You mean the one with the guys pretending to fall asleep on the "hot chick"?

Yeah, that one. It started off sketch, but it was kinda cute towards the end.

I guess that's all it was. Cute.

I feel awkward now.

Don't feel awkward. It was kind of weird. At first I thought it was a commercial, and I thought, "That's kind of a gross/immature idea for a commercial," but then, at the end, the way the chick laughed nervously made me wonder if it was actually a prank on her or something.

I just wasn't sure that was the one you meant because it didn't link to Air Bear for me... I had to search for it based on your description. :)

God damn I love Italian Spiderman. The part where he's smoking and brushing away the snake (SUSPENSO) is absolute gold.

TOO Hilarious that the JW search leads to you. I wonder what people think of your story. LOL!

I have to send you the hilarious card my sister sent me.

Reggie Aqui is a cutie. They do send him to the nastiest jobs.
At my prestigous job here in The Woodlands, I wait on Jeremy Desel a lot. He let's his wife fill out the credit card voucher and she tips eh, maybe ten percent everytime, any waiter, everytime. He is a ball-less wonder with a bitchy picky wife. I have never let him know I recognise him.
I thought about going to Channel eleven's message boards and posting a thread about it,lol I didn't.
Jeremy Desel, you are on tv, you cheap son of a bitch. I bet there are waitresses all over Houston Texas who cuss you, just as I do.

Best part of the Limbaugh article - when he called Bill O'Reilly "Ted Baxter." Then he goes on to like Ann Coulter, and yeah - still a jerk.

I found your new blog/website by completely randomly borrowing your first published book from my regional library.

After finishing it, I realized you were the same Gwen from Gwen's Trailer Trash all that time ago, a blog I found shortly after you started it, and then lost track of...

I took out your book in an ongoing effort to learn more about the burgeoning Hispanic population in the school I teach in, particularly the teenage girls. The boys I can 'get', but the female Hispanic experience is really difficult to understand adequately.

These girls tend to be very insular, separate, and uncommunicative, and it's been hard for me to get Hispanic women to talk to me about what their lives have been, and are, like.

I mostly have been trying to learn more this recently after witnessing firsthand the absolutely dismal graduation rates of female Hispanic high schoolers.

Your book was and is invaluable.

Personally, I think rather than reading Shakespeare in 10th grade these young ladies should read Gwen Zepeda's TO THE LAST MAN I SLEPT WITH AND ALL THE JERKS JUST LIKE HIM.

Thanks again.

So thins morning, I was conducting an image search on google for "ducks in hats" - never mind why - and one of the results was the following picture:

http://img.ffffound.com/static-data/assets/6/66b728360b52dd6bdbe980c01344431e8f8d0df2_m.jpg

In my attempt to determine what this picture was, as I was able to see the picture but not the corresponding page, I conducted a new google image search - this time for "old people dressed as plants" - without quotes. On page 10 of the search results I found this picture from your blog and wondered how it had anything to do with old people dressed as plants:

http://www.gwenworld.com/nye14.jpg

Thus, I arrived at your page. Now, I am pretty sure that you won't find either of those search terms anywhere near the top of the list for searches driving traffic to your page, but I defy you to find a more interesting set of terms.
