Nothing GlamorousWent home sick at noon today. Sick again, sick again. I think it has something to do with the fact that I won't stop freaking bleeding.
Sorry. I usually try to think up a non-cliched euphemism for the bleeding, so as not to gross out the mens in the audience, but screw it. I'm too drained and anemic to come up with one today. And dizzy and nauseated. Y'all know women bleed, right? Y'all can handle that, I'm sure.
It's a good thing I made an appointment with a specialist two months ago. My appointment is two weeks from now. I can't wait for the doctor to tell me what's wrong and give me pills to fix it. (Honestly, I'm not really that optimistic. But I'm pretending to be, in case optimism makes it happen. Like voodoo.)
I've been missing a lot of work lately, but there's nothing I can do about it. All I can do is go home and rest. And eat little bits of iron-rich food.

Meanwhile, you may notice two changes over there to the right. One, the 2005 entries are missing. That's because I'm archiving them - neatening the best and chucking the rest - and it's taking forEVer.
Also, my next book is no longer coming out in Spring 07. It is now slated for Fall 07. I consider it evidence of my growth as a writer that I'm not freaking out about that fact. I'm totally okay with it. (Because I already got paid.)
Mommy, wow. I'm a big kid now.
Today I talked to a coworker about rigging electric hedge clippers to reach far away hedges.
Dude.
What's next? Tax shelters?
Oh, wait. Too late. I already think about those 24/7. 6:55 PM #

gwen,I was glad to see your book in the library of the university I work at.
Re. the bleeding thing: I found help from an acupuncturist. She says the chinese herbs I am taking is what made the bleeding more normal (as in, not constant and ridiculous...also, cramps gone!). Kinda like taking a pill and making it all better. It sucks that you have to wait 6 freakin' weeks to see a doc, but maybe you can get more immediate help elsewhere? good luck with it.
Also...congrats on your new book deal!
you are an inspiration!

Awwww, Gwen, how ARE you?? You HAVE to take care of yourself!!! GOSH!
Just remember: big sea scallops have tons of iron. Yum with butter and garlic. Or breaded and fried. YUMMY way to get iron.

Hi Gwen,
H-mm, that dosen't sound so good. I wish you could get into your doctor sooner.
I don't want to sound like a nerious Nellie; but my sis had something like that, she couldn't stop bleeding out a lot vaginally, and it was unfortunately luekimia. Not that I'm saying you have that or anything.
Take care, and good luck with your book.

Splooshyc: Oh, thanks for seeing my book. That's cool.
Technically, I could just up my bc pill dosage and make the bleeding stop, but I'm tired of doing that. I want to find out the cause of this, and treat the cause, not the symptom. (I'm thinking it's hypothyroid now.)
Pixie: Hell, yes. Now you're speaking my language. My friend Rose looked up the most iron-rich foods, and raw oysters was number one. I know what I'm eating this weekend...
Janice: Your poor sister. :(
I don't think mine is cancer because the extra bleeding is incredibly regular. It's definitely hormonal. But thank you for worrying. :)

Gwen, so so sorry about the bleeding. I'm right there with you (literally) on the exhaustion, and the forevah it takes to find and fix the problem. They've finally got mine narrowed down, and I find out soon when I get to have my hystorectomy. This has been going on for over 3 years for me, here is to a much faster diagnosis for you!!!
